Every Sunday evening, prior to the main show at the Levitt in Pasadena, the Grassy Hill Side Stage hosts an open mic where emerging talents can showcase their music.
Monrovia-based singer-songwriter Claire Wylder caught my attention with her strong lyric content and well-developed piano skills. Claire told me a bit about herself and her plans:
I grew up around music, and I started writing music when I was eleven… I am still trying to learn as much about writing as I can before I commit myself to something so large [as making a CD].
Starting this fall, I will be studying music industry at the University of Miami. I chose that major because I want to get a 360 degree feel for the music industry…It’s a business, and I really want to get a good grip on that so that I can further myself as a musician.”
We wish Claire much success in Miami!
