Mayor Bill Bogaard and Ralphs/Food 4 Less team up to Pasadena Firefighters and local non-profit agencies to help prepare more than 400 Thanksgiving food baskets for the area’s low-income families.
The ability to give back to the community and help those less fortunate has been a re-occurring priority for Mayor Bogaard. Operation Gobble Gobble has been one of the core efforts to annually ensure those who need help with providing a Thanksgiving meal are able to feed their family during our National Thanksgiving Day Holiday.
- 7-7:30 a.m., preparation of Thanksgiving Baskets occurs in massive, well-coordinated assembly-line fashion.
- 7:45 a.m., opening comments from Mayor Bogaard. Mayor Bogaard also will be presented with commemorative, hand-painted “Operation Gobble Gobble” wall plates in honor of his leadership for the program.
- 7:46 – 8 a.m., Thanksgiving Baskets will be given to non-profit agencies that, in turn, will distribute to families elsewhere.
Operation Gobble Gobble has been a special community project for Mayor Bogaard since it began in 2003. Now with this 12th Thanksgiving effort, about 50,000 Thanksgiving meals will have been provided thanks to the generous donations of Ralphs/Food 4 Less and many other organizations.
Union Station Homeless Services; Friends in Deed; Armenian Relief Society; Black Infant Health; Day One; El Centro de Accion; Lutheran Social Services; Harambee Christian Center; Door of Hope; Pasadena Child Development Center; Pasadena City College Veterans Resource Center and the Ronald McDonald House in Pasadena are among the 35 social and non-profit agencies that will assist in the preparation and distribution of the Thanksgiving Baskets.
