Ever wanted to see what goes on inside NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory? The annual NASA-JPL Open House is the one weekend a year when we put our missions on display and let you roam around our sprawling facility.

On Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. PDT each day, you can explore JPL, view our missions and projects, and speak with the scientists and engineers working on them.

Highlights include a life-size model of the Mars Curiosity rover; an interactive art installation inspired by comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko; JPL’s machine shop, where robotic spacecraft parts are built; and the Microdevices Lab, where engineers and scientists use tiny technology to revolutionize space exploration.

If you plan to attend, wear comfortable shoes and pack a water bottle. No bags, backpacks or ice chests are allowed, with the exception of small purses and diaper bags. Arrive early for best parking and to avoid long lines at some of the more popular exhibits. Admission and parking are free.

If you are unable to make it to JPL Open House, they offer public tours free of charge on an advance reservation basis.
