“Latino Americans: 500 Years of History” concludes with a Grand Finale Celebration: Celebrating Roots – Celebrando Raizes.
Assembly Member Chris Holden will introduce the day with MC Mezzo-soprano Suzanna Guzman, Associate Artist of the Los Angeles Music Center Opera.
This free festival will offer the following:
Booths
30+ Latino artists’ booths plus additional booths for non-profits that support the Latino Community.
Music
Grammy Nominated José-Luis Orozco & Grammy Winner Quetzal will present a children/family music program. (Two 45-minute sets).
The Altadena Ale and Wine House will provide a rumba flamenco band.
Storytelling
Born and raised in East Los Angeles, artist, activist and writer Vibiana Aparicio-Chamberlin will be telling stories of family Mexican folk tales.
Dance
Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles a young dance company that has already distinguished itself as the nation’s premier Mexican folk dance company, will mesmerize the audience.
Food vendors
Local food vendors and restaurants will supply plenty of tasty Latino favorites along with drinks and desserts.
Second Saturday
A monthly music entertainment series begins at 6:30 that evening. Tremoloco band – a blend of Country, Mexican, Roots Music, and Americana, is featured. The Altadena Ale House will sell Latino focused beers and wines. Local favorites, El Patron and Sweeter Than Honey, will be on board for food for the evening.
Latino Americans: 500 Years of History is a part of an ongoing series of Latino-American library programming.
