An interview with Robert Stewart, creative explorer in the world of art, multi-media experimentalist with a classic, thorough, and contemporary bent.
By Kathabela Wilson
Robert Stewart is an inspiration and support to the artistic community here in Pasadena, at the Colonnade Gallery, and beyond. It is because I respect his skepticism, independent spirit, long experience with the LA arts scene, that Rick and I joined The Colonnade Art Gallery. He sees it as refreshingly different, a place for individual expression and creative community. He feels that way about our Red Door Poets at Caltech where he attends workshops each week. He approaches all his work with diligence, skill, experience and sensitivity. He is a consummate friend. When I asked him my questions I did so knowing he would be inventive, rebellious and strong. He has not disappointed me.
Telescope. Microscope. Compass. How do you see yourself as a poet in the world? What inspires and ignites your work? How does the place you live and work influence your art?
When I aimed my scientific tools at him, this poet, with characteristic inventiveness, answered my questions with a poem:
Enjoy some of his work:

good
Kathabela, I smile as I read, re-read what you said and what Robert answered.
Truly a humble, creative and talented man.
I enjoyed reading Robert Stewart’s answering the interview by Kathabela with his imaginative poem. Very unique !
