Despite the much needed rain and the gloomy sky, a big crowd gathered at City Hall for “Mayor Bogaard Appreciation Day” event.

The event was planned as an outside activity, but was moved inside City Hall foyer as the rain intensified. Pasadena City Council members joined with Congressmembers and city wide dignitaries were at hand to celebrate Mayor Bogaard’s tenure as the city’s mayor for 16 years.

Children activities, photo displays and music filled the air, as Marshall Jazz Band played while attendees lined up to take a picture with Mayor Bogaard. A surprise flash mob dance, on the tunes of singer-songwriter Chris Pierce, took place, and food trucks lined up outside City Hall along with Ben & Jerry’s free ice cream and a Tesla car showcase.

It was a great event filled with love and appreciation for a model mayor that’s accessible to all, and revered by many.

After the festivities, Mayor Bogaard was seen having dinner with family members at a restaurant on South Lake Ave. As for future plans, a well deserved trip to Spain, and possibly other countries, is in the horizon, but those plans have to wait until after the mayoral duties end on May 4th.
